K&R Small Animal Sanctuary - Rescue, Rehabilitate, Rehome
The majority of our rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals come from larger shelters and animal control facilities who are not properly equipped to take care of these special critters.  While walking the halls of these shelters, we cannot help but see the hundreds of dogs and cats that are waiting for forever homes and think of the lucky ones who have joined us in our homes and made our lives better.  Sammy was one of those dogs.

Sammy was a friend, a companion, and to his family, more than just a dog.  It was his passing that helped inspire and drive those who loved him into rescue work and eventually into forming K&R.    If it weren't for him, many animals would still be without homes, and in many cases, likely without lives.

One of the shelters we work with on a regular basis is MADACC in Milwaukee.  Being an animal control facility without an adoption program in one of the largest cities in Wisconsin, they have hundreds of dogs walk through their doors each week and very few adopters coming in to help them out.  Many of the dogs are only able to be held for the mandatory 7 days and unless arrangements can be made with other shelters or rescue organizations, too many dogs simply run out of time.

Due to our relationship with The Dog House and Pet Center in Appleton, we occasionally are able to help one of their "neediest animals" get out of the shelter and into a safe place where they can look for their forever home.  The Dog House provides boarding, playtimes, interaction, affection, and training to the dogs that they allow us to keep there.  With this new arrangement, K&R Small Animal Sanctuary has decided to help 1 dog per month get out of the shelter and in to a forever home.

These dogs will be fully vetted, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordatella, and tested for parasites.  Their adoption fee is $250.  They will all be available for viewing or meet and greets at The Dog House during their stay with us.  If you are looking for a dog who will be more than just a pet, please consider our Angels!
